According to a recent study by "Help Musicians UK", published in November 2016, a staggering 71 percent of 2,200 respondents believed they had suffered from panic attacks and/or high levels of anxiety, while 69 percent reported they had suffered from depression -- a more than threefold increase over findings by the
U.K. Office for National Statistics, which indicate around one in five of the national population suffers from anxiety or depression.
Mental health, and how to manage it, while working in the music industry is an important topic and it's one I believe doesn't get enough attention in our community.
In my latest podcast I speak with NY City based Self Care and Wellness coach Katie Zaccardi about how musicians can better manage their mental health while working in the music industry. We discuss a variety of techniques and methods for dealing with issues like anxiety and stress, and I share ways I've been able to overcome my own anxiety issues and arrive at a more peaceful place in my life, while still keeping music the focal point of my
life.
Thanks!
