A few months ago I started to get really interested in learning more about how to succeed on Spotify.
I interviewed one artist who has had over 16 million streams on Spotify. Then I connected with another artist
who has over 20 million Spotify streams.
The more I learned about Spotify and its potential for both growing a fanbase and generating revenue, the more interested I got. And let's face it, Spotify and streaming are here to stay.
Last November, I had an average of about 50 streams per month. Since then, that number has grown to an average of 5 to 10 thousand streams per month. Not millions yet, but I'm getting there.
I've started to get pretty obsessive about tracking my numbers. One of the cool things I've noticed recently, is that every time I log in to check my Spotify stats I can see how many people are listening to me live, in the moment. This number used to always be 0. Now, every time I log in there are always people listening to my music. Sometimes it's just two or three people, other times it's dozens.
But, it's cool to know that around the clock, people are listening to and discovering my music and that I can track this, in real time!
My main strategy to growing my streams on Spotify has been submitting to and getting featured in Spotify Playlists. At first it was pretty slow going, a few hundred extra streams here and there. But lately, my numbers have been steadily increasing. Of course they fluctuate, but over time the trend is
upward.
