Have you ever wondered what an actual day in the life of a full time TV composer is like?
I talk a lot about the steps you need to take to get to the point of composing music full time for a living and licensing music as a career. But what about when you actually get there? What's a typical day like? Is it satisfying? Is it worth the effort you have to put in to get there?
I recently did a webinar with composer John Delvento. John has had placements with The Science Channel, Food Network, Nike, Toyota, and Visa, among others. Network television shows that have featured John’s work include “Chopped,” “Nova,” “Practical Jokers,” “Hunting Hitler,” “Amish Mafia,” “Black Ink Crew,” “Love and Hip-Hop,” “The Island,”, “WWE: Smackdown”, and more. In
addition to commercials and television, John also composes short and feature film scores, most notably for the documentaries “Veil of Silence,” and “FagBug: Nation,” and the award-winning horror film “Lucifer’s Angels.”
During the webinar I got John to break down what a typical day in the life of a full time TV composer is actually like. John broke down his day, when he gets up, how he spends his time and what being a full time composer is actually like.
