So long story short, one of the musicians, a How To License Your Music subscriber, who heard our interview reached out to John to see if he could help out and contribute in any way.
It turns out John was actually in need of tracks to pitch to both the "Hellboy 3" movie as well as music for a major ad campaign.
Our subscriber agreed to make a few custom tracks to pitch to both projects.
This particular person, in John's words, created tracks that were "spot on" and and now they're being pitched directly to the supervisor for the film this weekend, as well as being considered for a major ad campaign.
I'm not at privy to share the specific details about either project yet, as the details have not been finalized, but according to John it looks like this particular composer is most likely going to secure one of the spots.
This all happened from just one email he decided to send after listening to our interview.
He took a chance and now he’s potentially involved in a major project. Even if neither projects pan out, he’s developed a new relationship with someone in the business that will likely lead to more success down the
road.
Just a reminder that all it could take is one random email to change the direction of your career. You never know until you try.
If you haven't watched the interview with John, check out the full video version in the member's area of How To License Your Music Premium. All of my interviews are with people
actually working full time in the business of licensing.
Most of my guests are open to and encourage you to reach out to them. I always ask at the end of each interview if they’re open to submissions and how to follow up with them.
Live Q & A With John Delvento
John will also be doing a live Q & A for members of How To License Your Music Premium on Friday, February 15th @ 7:30 PM EST.
John and I will be going live for an entire 90 minutes to field your questions about writing music for TV, how to get started, how to network, how to build your catalog and more.
Anything you want to ask. We'll be taking your questions in real time.
We had thought about making this available to the public and all the readers of this newsletter, but we want to keep the audience small enough that we'll be able to answer all your questions. So we've decided to make this available exclusively to our premium members in order to attract a smaller, more focused group of writers/composers.
Mark your calendars and if you haven't already, check out our premium site and all the tools and resources we offer here:
