Today’s post is a guest post from TV and Film composer Eddie Grey. Eddie recently created a new course for How To License Your
Music.com called “How To Optimize Your Workflow Using Logic”. In today’s post, Eddie shares his inspiration for creating this course and breaks down what his new course is all about.
Over to you Eddie….
My name is Eddie Grey. I am so excited about this blog post, mostly because of what it can do for you.
When I first decided to become a Composer/Producer, I knew absolutely nothing about engineering or mixing.
My whole life I was good at 2 things:
- Music/Playing Guitar and Singing
(Art)
- Exercise
I spent my adolescent years taking vocal and guitar lessons, playing in bands, and dissecting every single Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Sting record that I could find. I was never musically trained but I knew the fundamentals of music (major, minor, modes, inversions, etc.). At the time, I felt so unsure about my life and what it would become. The one thing I never
questioned was that I ABSOLUTELY LOVED MUSIC WITH ALL OF MY HEART and that I KNEW I was destined to make it in the music industry. I studied it by listening and mimicking what I heard on my Guitar and writing it down.
Those early years have proven to be fruitful as my ear developed in a very keen way. What I lack in Musical Sophistication and Theory, I make up for in Musical IQ. I am in touch with my music. I know how I want it to make me feel..I know how I want it to make others feel. I hear the music in my head and in my heart.
Once you get over the initial fear of WHAT IF????? and you commit yourself to your goal of being
a better producer, singer, artist, etc., you then have to LEARN YOUR TOOLS and LEARN THE INDUSTRY.
I was fortunate enough to meet Aaron Davison and Gary Gray a few years back and it changed my life. The education they gave me about the music industry has proven to be indispensable. I often half-joke about how even though I did not get a college education, I received the equivalent with the resources found in howtolicenseyourmusic.com. There was no other source that contributed more to my life and my income. I took Aaron’s courses and then went on to take private lessons with Gary Gray and my career has catapulted ever since.
I am currently sponsored by Audiothing, OekSound, kiloHearts, and Output.
Gary told me something that I will never forget. In fact, I have it framed in my studio so I can look at it everyday. I will paraphrase it. It reads…
“Read the manual, do extensive research online, try different settings, use your ears…”
To get the rest of the quote you can ask Gary yourself, but what this quote did for me was it opened my eyes to the fact that the only way I was going to be a TRUE PROFESSIONAL, was if I completely understood and fully utilized my DAW, which is Logic X.
I recently created a course called “How To Optimize Your Workflow Using Logic” for How To License Your Music.com. This course is for Logic beginners, novice, and experts alike. It streamlines the process of making music in Logic and condenses it in a 3 part course.
Get the course for just $40.00 (normally $77.00) this week only!

WHY I CREATED THIS COURSE:
My intention in creating this course was to provide a comprehensive course that will allow students, producers, artists, composers, etc. to be more efficient and well rounded. The intention is to give them the tools and resources so they can become “power” users.
