Are You Coming?

Published: Tue, 09/05/17

As you probably have heard by now, my producer, Gary Gray, and I are going to be hosting a two day retreat on the topic of music production and music licensing on September 16th and 17th in Tustin, CA.

We started promoting the Retreat a few weeks ago, and the response has been incredible. So much so that we sold out the first weekend retreat (Sept 23rd and 24th) and added another (Sept 16th and 17th).

There are still a few spots available for the Sept 16th and 17th Retreat. (Spots are first-come-first-served, with the final deadline being September 9th at midnight EST.)

Here's my partner and producer, Gary Gray, explaining the retreat in his own words...

If you’ve always wanted to get personal face-to-face mentoring on the subject of music production for licensing in both a major studio and in a home studio like yours, and if you’ve always wanted to pitch your music directly, face-to-face to a top pro LA Music Supervisor who is in the position to place your music in TV, Films, Commercials & Video Games, then keep reading. (To secure your spot at the California Dreaming Retreat now, CLICK HERE).

To Celebrate our latest string of licensed tracks, including Aaron's song "Falling Down (You Went Away)," placed in the Emmy-Award Winning CBS Television Hit Daytime Series "The Young & The Restless," tracks placed in ten episodes of the Emmy-Award Winning A&E Television Series "Born This Way” (Seasons 2 & 3) and a commissioned album “Minimal Synth,” for Megatrax’s prestigious “Distillery Series,” Aaron and I have decided to hold a 2-Day retreat for a small handful of serious songwriter-composer producer-engineers.

This September (Sat and Sun, the 23rd and 24th SOLD OUT), and (Sat and Sun, the 16th and 17th SPOTS STILL AVAILABLE) we'll be personally working with 10 people from the 9,000 plus data base of HowToLicenseYourMusic.com to spend 2 full days with Aaron, myself and several other industry executives, in California at Master Recording Studios -- and at my home studio. At this retreat, you will:

1. Discuss music production for licensing, including receiving face-to-face, one-on-one, hands-on mentoring from me on your productions, both in a 4,000 square foot multi-million dollar production studio used by celebrities (2016 Grammy Award-Winner Chance The Rapper, Amy Grant, Jason Mraz and many more), and in my home studio from where I service clients such as The Disney Music Group, to show you how you can get the same quality in your personal home studio, that you can get in a multi-million dollar studio - with a recording you will take home as proof.

2. Receive face-to-face, one-on-one, hands-on mentoring from Aaron Davison, founder of HowToLicenseYourMusic.com, on the business side of music licensing.

3. Receive very personal and customized mentoring. The production and business mentoring you will receive will be based solely on:

a) A detailed survey which will pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses, as well as which steps you should take in priority sequence, to increase the odds of you achieving your goals in the music industry.

b) A thorough and detailed critique by me of 3 of your most recent recordings (as of September 9th, 2017).

4. Observe, from the control room in a major studio, and in my home studio, actual tracks being laid down by Aaron and myself for his upcoming EP, which will be shopped for licensing in the fall and winter of 2017.

5. Participate in a collaboration of writing, production and performing in both a major studio and my home studio. I'll be producing, mixing and mastering this recording and Aaron and I will personally shop it to music supervisors, publishers and libraries for licensing. Be sure to let us know what instruments you play, what instruments you program, your proficiency level and/or your vocal range.

6. Receive recognition of your peers by having the collaboration project recording and bio information on yourself promoted to the entire HowToLicenseYourMusic.com data base.

7. With your permission, your image (photos, videos) and an interview with you may appear in a brand-new upcoming course on music licensing, distributed on both my website, LearnAudioEngineering.net and Aaron's website, HowToLicenseYourMusic.com.

8. Pitch your music (3 tracks), face-to-face, directly to a music supervisor and receive instant feedback. Music Supervisors include Jody Friedman (Sep 23rd and 24th), CEO of HD MUSIC NOW, and Erin Dillon (Sep 16 & 17), award-winning Music Supervisor and Director of Creative Services for Songtradr.com. Erin and Jody are both musicians. In Erin’s own words, “Knowing the language of music theory allows a deeper connection in working with composers. I feel it makes it easier to relate and mediate between the creative vision of a director versus the musicality a composer brings to a project. And with a trained ear, you can give better notes and guidance. This is true not only with composers but when working with up-and-coming artists or new talent.”

Jody is also a songwriter/musician who regularly collaborates with me in my studio. You can listen to our latest track, featuring Aaron Davison on lead guitar, "Celebrate."

The cost for attending the California Dreaming Music Production/Licensing 2-Day Retreat is $525 US per person (this does not include travel or accommodations). For more details and/or to sign up, visit our website now : http://CaliforniaDreamingRetreat.com

Oh, and for those of you who have any extra time, you can join Aaron and I in beautiful world-renowned Laguna Beach for some fun-in-the-sun, and in Hollywood for an exciting night-on-the-town the day after the Retreat.

Deadline to secure your spot is September 9th, 2017 at midnight EST. We’ll also need to know which 3 songs you'd like to submit for critiquing by September 9th. (Notice: Spots for the Retreat are first-come-first-served and may be gone by September 9th).
