California Dreaming: A Two Day Music Production/Licensing Retreat In Tustin, CA!

Published: Sat, 08/05/17

I’m super excited to announce that to celebrate mine and Gary’s latest string of licensed tracks (The Young & The Restless, Fox Sports, multiple tracks placed in ten episodes of the Emmy-Award Winning A&E Television Series "Born This Way", All My Children) and a commissioned album, "Minimal Synth," for Megatrax's prestigious "Distillery Series" as well as multiple placements by our students (A&E, Discovery, Bravo, Nickelodeon, Showtime, HBO, Oxygen Network, etc), Gary and I have decided to hold our first ever 2 day retreat for a small handful of serious songwriter/composer/producer/ engineers.

Our first retreat, scheduled for September 23rd and 24th sold out in about a week.  So we’ve decided to add a second retreat on September 16th and 17th (Saturday and Sunday).

We'll be personally working with 10 people from the 11,000 plus data base of HowToLicenseYourMusic.com to spend 2 full days with Gary, myself, songwriter/composer Eddie Grey, and several other industry executives, including music supervisor Erin Dillon (Sept 16 & 17) and Supervisor Jody Friedman (Sept 23rd & 24th) in Tustin, California at Master Recording Studios -- and at Gary’s home studio.

1. Discuss music production for licensing, including receiving face-to-face, one-on-one, hands-on mentoring from Gary on your productions, both in a 4,000 square foot multi-million dollar production studio used by celebrities (2016 Grammy Award-Winner Chance The Rapper, Amy Grant, Jason Mraz and many more), and in Gary’s home studio from where Gary services clients such as The Disney Music Group, to show you how you can get the same quality in your personal home studio, that you can get in a multi-million dollar studio - with a recording you will take home as proof.

2. Receive face-to-face, one-on-one, hands-on mentoring from me on the business side of music licensing.

3. Receive very personal and customized mentoring. The production and business mentoring you will receive will be based solely on:

a) A detailed survey which will pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses, as well as which steps you should take in priority sequence, to increase the odds of you achieving your goals in the music industry.

b) A thorough and detailed critique by Gary Gray of 3 of your most recent recordings (as of September 1, 2017).

4. Observe, from the control room in a major studio, and in Gary’s home studio, actual tracks being laid down by Gary and me for my upcoming EP, which will be shopped for licensing in the fall and winter of 2017.

5. Participate in a collaboration of writing, production and performing in both a major studio and my home studio. Gary will be producing, mixing and mastering this recording and we will personally shop it to music supervisors, publishers and libraries for licensing. Be sure to let us know what instruments you play, what instruments you program, your proficiency level and/or your vocal range.

6. Receive recognition from over 10,000 of your peers by having the collaboration project recording and bio information on yourself promoted to the entire HowToLicenseYourMusic.com data base.

7. With your permission, your image (photos, videos) and an interview with you may appear in a brand-new upcoming course on music licensing, distributed on both Gary’s website, LearnAudioEngineering.net and my website, HowToLicenseYourMusic.com.

8. Pitch your music, face-to-face, directly to a music supervisor and receive instant feedback.

The cost for attending the retreat is $550 per person (this does not include travel or accommodations).  We're limiting the retreat to a maximum of 10 participants so that everyone gets ample one on one, in person mentoring.

Oh, and for those of you who have any extra time, you can join Gary and me in beautiful world-renowned Laguna Beach for some fun-in-the-sun, and in Hollywood for an exciting night-on-the-town on Monday, September 18th.

Note: If you have a sponsor or patron who can help pay for you, please let me know asap and I will be happy to supply them with all the information needed. During our market research, we found that many artists approach family/friends/colleagues for patronages, sponsorships, birthday gifts, etc. for opportunities such as this.

If you can make it, it'll be great for Gary and me to meet you, and work with you, in person, here in the mecca of music production and licensing: California!  This retreat is something Gary and I have been talking about doing for about two years now and we're both super pumped to be able to offer this chance to connect with you in person, in California, alongside two of the industry's most respected music supervisors.

Happy Songwriting!

Aaron
