Music Licensing And Passive Income

Published: Tue, 07/11/17

One of the coolest things about licensing your music is getting passive income deposited directly into your account. I frequently get direct deposits from ascap for songs I wrote years ago.  For example just a few days ago I got paid for my track, Falling Down, that I wrote and recorded two years ago, that was picked up on a recent episode of The Young & The Restless.  With what I earned in royalties I more than quadrupled my initial recording costs!

On the same statement, I also got paid for songs that I had written as far back as ten years ago that were used in new placements.  One of these tracks has been used hundreds of times over the years!

Music licensing is definitely a long term endeavor, but once you get rolling you can generate money with the same tracks for many years.

I like to think of music licensing as sort of being like a 401k plan for musicians.  I think of my songs as being like stocks, and my catalog as being like a portfolio.  The idea is to create a catalog that is big enough and broad enough to work in a wide variety of situations.
Do you want to learn how to start making money with your songs by licensing them in tv, films and ads?

On Monday July 17th I'm launching my most condensed (and cost effective) training program, The 30 Day Music Licensing Challenge.

Many of you have asked whether I have any shorter programs, that require less of a time commitment than my 90 and 180 day programs.  Well, this course is for you!

The 30 Day Music Licensing Challenge includes one on one coaching, daily licensing leads and video tutorials, two bonuses worth more than the entire cost of the program and more.

At the beginning of the program we'll touch base one on one via Skype to go over your specific situation and areas you should focus on.  Then, once a day for 30 days, you'll get two daily licensing leads and a daily video tutorial that covers a different topic related to licensing your music.

There are also two bonuses you can access immediately upon registering for the program, including my latest four hour audio/video course, The Ultimate Music Licensing Guide.

By the end of the program you'll have learned everything you need to know about the music licensing business and will have connected with 60 different companies that license music, all for less than the cost of an average night on the town.
