Today's post is a guest post by The Sculptor Of Sound, Mr. Gary Gray about how to make a showreel and how having a great showreel can help you open more doors in the world of sync licensing.
Take it away Gary...
I discovered something exciting that could help every single member of HowToLicenseYourMusic.com – from the newest beginner to the most decorated veteran: by creating or updating your personal showreel -- you can open doors that may never have opened for you.
The full version of this video will be released as part of The Ultimate Music Licensing Guide. which is a five hour long training program that is just part of over 20 hours of training that's included in The 180 Day Music Licensing Challenge, starting on January 2nd.
We both decided to release a free excerpt of the Video Course “How to Create an Effective Showreel” now, prior to the next 180 Day Music Licensing Challenge to give you some ideas to think about in advance of the course.
This information is vital for anyone wanting to succeed in music licensing.
In fact, I recently re-learned a lesson on just how vital it is. Last month, within 48 hours of updating my Composer Showreel, I was offered a multi-album production deal by EMI Production Music out of London. And this was the first time I produced my showreel myself in my home
studio.
As a result, Aaron and I are putting together an album for EMI as we speak. Had it not been for creating my new showreel and promoting it, there is no way I would have gotten this break in my career.
In the video, I present the process of creating a showreel as a “recipe,” with the main ingredients being:
1. Well-Crafted Song(s)/Composition(s).
2. Excellent Audio Production (of the Entire Sound Track).
3. Professionally Executed Video Production and Post-Production Editing.
Near the beginning of the video “How To Create An Effective Showreel,” you’ll see the showreel I recently created:
Planning and Your Showreel
I put a lot of thought into the planning of my showreel. And the quality control standards I set for myself were high. It took me a full day of putting the video shots together and 2 more full days work just to quality control check my showreel.
But the bottom line is effectiveness. For myself and my
target audience, I was able to hit a bullseye. As I said, after only 48 hours, I was offered a multi-album production deal with EMI Production Music out of London -- as a direct result of them seeing my showreel.
Good News For You
As you’ll discover by watching “How To Create An Effective Showreel,” video production is EASIER than audio production. So, if you
are so inclined, have at it! If video production is above and beyond you, then by all means find someone who can help – but in any case, create your own showreel!
And if you get value out of the training in this tutorial, be sure to join Aaron and I on The 180 Day Music Licensing Challenge, you'll get one on one coaching with both myself and Aaron, 180 daily licensing leads, over 20 hours of training and much, much
more.
If you register by December 24th you'll get over 600 dollars in bonuses and courses, including The Ultimate Music Licensing Guide, which this training is an excerpt of.
