A lot of people ask me what the chances of licensing their music are. It's an almost impossible question to answer because there are so many variables involved. There really is no one size fits all answer since every situation is unique. For example, how good is the music being pitched? What style of music is being pitched? Is the music right for the scene it's being pitched for? Who is it being submitted to? How often is it being submitted? How often are you following up on your submissions and so on... There isn't any single answer, because it really depends on a lot of different factors, almost all of which are outside my control.
I can understand why people ask questions like these, but it's a counter productive way to approach the situation. It's much more effective to simply decide that licensing your music is a goal and then ask questions that will lead to success. For example you can ask: What kind of music is currently being licensed a lot? What is the production quality necessary for music to be licensed and how can I get my music to meet those standards? Who is looking for the kind of music I create? How can I get my music to the right people? What styles of music that I enjoy writing are actually in demand? Asking these types of questions will point you in the right direction and ultimately lead to your success.
Worrying about how hard it is to license your music or what the chances of you succeeding will only serve to deter and delay your progress. It's an understandable thought process, but it's completely pointless. Don't do it. Instead focus your efforts in figuring out how to move in the direction of your goals. Success is often times a matter of asking the right questions and avoiding pointless ones.
The 180 Day Challenge Starts July 6th!
Register By June 28th And Get Three Free Courses!
On Monday, July 6th, 2015 I'm launching my biggest and most extensive training program yet for songwriters who want to license their music in TV and films.
The 180 Day Music Licensing Challenge, like the name implies, is a 180 day long training program that includes one on one coaching, monthly conference calls, weekly live facebook coaching sessions, 180 daily licensing leads, in depth training videos and much, much more.
I'm not planning on doing any more 90 Day Challenge programs in 2015 and instead will be offering just one six month long training program. This will allow me to consolidate everyone who wants to work with me into two longer and more extensive programs. The 180 Day Challenge includes much more coaching and interaction than my previous training programs. In addition to the one on one phone coaching, I'll also be doing weekly real time facebook coaching sessions, monthly conference calls and will also be an active participant in a member's only forum I've set up for everyone who takes the 180 Day Challenge.
