Twenty years ago I attended a seminar by the songwriter Mike Reid, while attending Berklee College of Music. Mike is a former NFL football player turned songwriter who is best known for Bonnie Rait's "I Can't Make You Love Me If You Don't".  During the seminar Mike discussed how he felt cynicism was one of the biggest threats to songwriters and creativity in general.
