Making Money With Stock Music Libraries

Published: Mon, 05/28/12

In a few days I'll be releasing my newest course, "How To Make Money With Stock Music Libraries".  I'm really excited about the program, I think it's my best work yet.  The course is a two hour long program filled with really specific tips, techniques, strategies and information specifically related to the niche of "stock music" or "production music".  The course is taught by Aaron Saloman from Canada and I facilitate the course.   I'll be sending out an email about the course in a few days.

Today, I thought I'd share another of the many great ideas revealed in the program...

One of the things that Aaron was very open about in the course was that he didn't make great money from licensing right away.  It took a few years to build up.  When he first started uploading his tracks to the various libraries he now works with, he said at first money would trickle in.  Fifty dollars here.  Fifty dollars there.  Nothing earth shattering.  When many musicians probably would have given up, Aaron kept going.  The money slowly grew.  A hundred dollars here.  A hundred dollars there.  Aaron kept going...

Now, a few years later Aaron makes over a thousand dollars a month from the music he's placed in the dozen or so libraries he works with alone and his music has been heard in dozens of shows.  He's not making Justin Bieber money.  But, think about it...  how would you like to earn a thousand dollars extra every month, passively, from music you've already created?   That's what Aaron does!  Of course, he has other sources of income.  But, they're all music related.  He doesn't have a "regular job". He makes a full time living just from his music.  A huge chunk comes from music licensing.

It takes time to build a catalog of music that generates substantial income.  I see far too many musicians just give up because they take a stab at licensing and it doesn't pay off right away.  But for those who persevere, the rewards are great.  To me, Aaron is living the dream.  He gets to wake up every day and do what he loves to do (music) and makes enough to pay his bills.   He's a great example of an indie musician who has refused to "give in" and give up on his dreams and I'm sure he's only just getting started!

I'll be sending you more information about Aaron Saloman and our new course later this week.  Definitely check it out, Aaron has a lot to offer the licensing community.
