Using The Internet To Make Fans And Sell Your Music

Are you taking advantage of the myriad of creative ways you can utilize the internet to drive more traffic to your website, find new fans, and ultimately sell more of your music? Just putting up a website and hoping people will find your music isn't enough, as I'm sure you already know. So what can you do to get more people to check out your music? Well, a lot actually.

Today I'll share a tip that comes from my friend John Oszajca's book, The Music Marketing Manifesto, on using the internet to market original music. John discusses a ton of great strategies in the book for how to use the internet to market your music. For example, you can use the names of other better known artists that your music is similiar to as keywords to drive traffic to your site. If you are an unknown artist chances are people aren't searching for you, because they don't know about you. One of John's suggestions is to write and post articles or reviews (or have other people write them) that mention other artists that you sound like and then post these either on your website or on other free sites. If you do this correctly your article will show up in search engines when people are searching for other artists that you sound like. I think this is a great tip, and it's just one of many John discusses in The Music Marketing Manifesto.

John is a former Interscope and Warner Bros recording artist who in 1999 was signed to one of the largest recording contracts for a new artist ever.
