Quick Tip Of The Week- The 2009 Edition Of The A-Z Of Music Licensing Now Available
Published: Fri, 01/02/09
When you're submitting vocal songs for potential licensing opportunities it's a good idea to always have both a version with vocals as well as an instrumental version on hand. Sometimes supervisors will want to use just the instrumental version of the track and sometimes vocals will be re-cut.
It's best to be prepared for as many possible scenarios as possible. My publisher also likes me to submit two different vocal tracks as well, one with the vocals hot in the mix and one with the vocals a bit lower. This way she is prepared to deliver several different mixes in the event that a supervisor or producer likes the track but prefers a different mix. This is a fast paced business and the more prepared you are upfront the greater your chances of success.
