A Six Week Course On Writing Songs For Film and Television!
Published: Fri, 05/09/08
Over a year ago I started a website and newsletter with information regarding the music licensing business. So many musicians had been approaching me wanting to know how I was able to get my music into television that I decided to create a forum where I would teach musicians how they could also start placing their music into television and film and offer the necessary resources to get started.
Over the last year I've worked with many clients and have helped multiple people get their music licensed with different publishers, music libraries and the like. It's been very rewarding helping others excel in this field that has been so exciting for me for the last several years.
During the course of working with different songwriters about how the business works I have heard from many songwriters who were excited about the possibility of getting involved in music licensing but weren't sure whether or not there songs were up to par. Not just in terms of production, but in terms of the actual songs themselves. It seemed like quite a few people were reluctant to move forward because they weren't sure whether or not there songs were good enough.
Songwriting is cleary a subjective craft in many respects. But the reality is there are very objective parameters that define most commercially viable songs. This is perhaps even more true when it comes to music that is primarily used in television and film than it is for commercial music in general. There are many specific techniqes, that when applied correctly, greatly increase the chances of a song working as background music for television and film. Some of these principles I cover in my online program, "The A-Z Of Music Licensing". However, this program focuses more on the business of music licensing than the actual craft of songwriting in the context of TV and Film licensing.
So... in an effort to thoroughly address the issue of songwriting, as it relates to being used in TV and Film, I've designed a one of a kind, six week interactive course that focuses specifically on the actual craft of writing songs for use in TV and Film. This course combines one on one coaching and weekly online lessons over the course of six weeks. All of the lessons are based on my own experiences of writing songs in this genre and they address real life situations that will arise in the context of writing songs for Television and Film. You will have specific assignments to complete each week and you will be given feedback on all your work. You will need access to recording equipment to participate in the course. You will not be judged on the actual production of your recordings as this is strictly a songwriting course. Simple demos will suffice for the purpose of the course.
The Intro To Writing Songs For Television and Film course is a six week course that begins May 26th, 2008. Lessons will be delivered via email each Monday that you are taking the course. You will be sent a special link to a website that contains all the course materials, including the actual lesson as well as audio samples in some cases. Assignments will be due the following Monday. You will be given feedback on all work you deliver.
Pre-register by May 19th and save $50.00 off of the course tuition. Everyone who enrolls in the course will get, as a free bonus, access to "The A-Z Of Music Licensing" online edition. Class size is limited to ten students. To sign up for the course or for more information visit http://www.aarondavison.com/intro_course.html
