No Barrier To Entry
Welcome to the new and improved How To License Your Music.com newsletter.  I'll be connecting with you 2 - 3 times a week with tips and information regarding the music licensing industry. I've also added a new section called the "Free Opportunity of The Week".  Each week I'll be bring you a different FREE opportunity for places to submit your music.

The Music Licensing industry is much easier to break into than the recording industry for a variety of factors, many of which I've covered in previous newsletters.  There truly is no "barrier to entry" when it comes to getting your music licensed.  It doesn't matter how old you are, what you look like, where you live.... Any one with access to recording gear who writes good songs, can get in the game.  It really is a level playing field.  Of course you need to make contacts, but that's where my products come in! With my TV/Film Music Industry directory you'll have the names and contact info of people who can get your music placed.

Performing Rights Organizations
In order to get paid for the songs you license for use in TV and Film, you need to join what's called a "Performing Rights Organization".  These are non profit organizations that are responsible for collecting and distributing the royalties that songwriters and publishers earn through music licensing.  In the U.S. there are three main PRO's.  Here are their respective websites:

www.ascap.com
www.bmi.com
and www.sesac.com
