I've been getting a lot of emails with questions about the upcoming 365 Day Music Licensing Challenge, how it works and what to expect when you sign up for the program.
I thought the easiest way to address all the questions I've been receiving is in one email, where I answer all the questions I've received.
As a reminder, you can sign up for the 365 Day Music Licensing Challenge, which starts Monday, July 3, between now and July 2, here:

FAQs About The 365 Day Music Licensing
Challenge
Who is the ideal candidate for this program?
Anyone who is looking to learn how to license their music in tv, films and ads.
Whether you've already been licensing your music for several years, or you are new to licensing and just getting started, the 365 Day Music Licensing Challenge will be applicable to your goals.
Our training and program really covers all aspects of sync licensing, from the very basics of sync licensing and how to get started, to really advanced concepts like how to write music for very specific
facets of sync, like advertising or writing music specifically for TV, our material covers everything you need to know to move forward in the world of sync licensing.
How much time do I need each day to do the program? A year sounds intense!
All of the material and
training in the program can be done at your convenience throughout the 365 Days you have access to the program. We will be posting sync licensing leads on a daily basis that we encourage you to submit your music to, but if you miss a day or two you can go back at any point and catch up. Like anything, the more time you invest in our material and putting the concepts you learn into action, the better results you'll have.
Why a year?
It takes time to achieve success in sync licensing. It's simply the nature of the business. It takes time to make connections, submit your music, follow up and eventually start seeing results. Which is why we have chosen to give you access to all of our training material
included in the program for an entire year.
What specifically will I learn by taking the 365 Day Music Licensing Challenge?
Again, we cover pretty much every imaginable topic related to licensing your music in tv, films and ads that you can imagine. We cover a very wide
range of topics, so it's hard to address them all, but to give you an idea, here are some of the topics you'll learn about in the program:
-How to pitch music to supervisors
-How to write music specifically for television
-How to create your own music library
-How to mix and master music for Sync
-How to reach out to music libraries
-How contracts in sync licensing
work
-How metadata works
-How to make sure you get paid for all your syncs
-How to network and cultivate relationships
-How to write instrumental cues for television
-How to get paid upfront for your tracks
-How to write tracks for television on a deadline
-and much
more!
What kind of leads do you provide?
We post a wide variety of leads, including leads to supervisors, music libraries, publishers and sync licensing agencies. The leads we post are dependent upon who is looking for music throughout the 365 day long program, which
obviously fluctuates. But we will post at least one new lead every single day throughout the program to places that are actively looking for new music.
How is the program structured, what is a typical day like?
To start, at the beginning of the program, you'll have a 30
minute, one on one video coaching call with Aaron Davison, HTLYM founder ("With Coaching" option). During this call, you'll go over your background, the kind of music you make, and how to get the most out of the program directly with Aaron.
Then, every day you'll receive an email with a different music licensing lead, to a specific place to pitch your music.
Once a week, you'll receive a different lesson, assignment and video tutorial, related to different aspects of music licensing.
Once a month, you'll get access to a new webinar that covers a very specific aspect of sync licensing.
Throughout the entire program, you'll have access to all of the courses included with your HTLYM Premium membership, 19 courses in all, covering every possible aspect of sync licensing you'll need to know, from marketing, to production, to how to write music for sync licensing. If you're not sure which course or courses is most applicable to your specific situation, one of our team members will be available to direct you to the material most applicable to
your specific situation.
You'll also have access to a ton of other resources, like our monthly webinars, our audio interviews (over 100), our industry directories and many more resources that will help you get your music licensed.
97 dollars (Or 197 dollars with coaching) seems like an extremely low price for this type of program, compared to other, comparable programs. How are you able to offer this at such a low price?
One of the things we have always taken pride in, is offering our resources to musicians at very affordable prices. Since we at HTLYM are all
musicians ourselves, we know the struggle involved in pursuing a career in the arts, and we aim to provide the best training available for musicians who want to learn how to license their music, at the most affordable prices possible. Of course, we can only do this thanks to musicians like you who sign up for our courses.
Do you offer refunds for the program?
Due to the nature of the program and the material we provide, as well as the low cost we charge, we are not able to offer any refunds for the 365 Day Challenge.
Why does the program start in July and
not January 1?
There's no time like the present to start pursuing your goals!
If I take your program am I guaranteed to license my music?
No, of course we cannot provide any
guarantees of this sort. Your success will be dependent upon a variety of factors, many of which are outside of our control. The kind of music you make, the quality of your music and the actions you do or don't take are all beyond our control. However, we do guarantee that we will provide all the tools and training necessary for you to succeed in sync licensing, if you take the requisite action, which we outline in the 365 Day Challenge. We also have a 15 year history of
helping artists get started licensing their music and have helped thousands of artists get started in the music licensing business.
